HOW YOUR ORDER WILL BE SHIPPED

Your barbecue order will be shipped to you via UPS Second-Day Air in a special insulated polystirene container. Each roast is double-wrapped in heavy aluminum foil, shrink-wrapped and quick-frozen to insure delicious "just-off-the-smoker" flavor and freshness.  It will be packed with UPS regulated amounts of dry ice and should be cool to the tough when it arrives. 

When you receive your order place it in your freezer immediatly.  Keep frozen until you are ready to thaw, warm and serve.

Five Pound orders of Chopped or Pulled Pork Barbecue will be shipped to you in two, 2.5 pound packages and vacuum-sealed.

Gardner's Barbecue is as fresh as it can possibly be when you receive it.  We never ship precooked or pre-frozen product.  We prepare your order fresh - after we receive the order from you.  When your package arrives the pork barbecue or smoked pork loin will be less then 84 hours from the smokers ( and our target is 72 hours from the smoker to you)!

Our commitment to freshness insures that your Gardner's Barbecue order will keep well in the freezer for up to five months.

Keep your hickory-smoked barbecue or roast frozen until ready to thaw and serve.  Each selection will have specific warming instructions for easy, quick, error-free preparation. The heavy, double-foil inner wrapper (roasts and no sauce BBQ) serves as your warming wrap.  Gardner's Barbecue is fully-cooked when it arrives.



What is Dry Ice?
Dry Ice is another term for solid carbon dioxide.  Carbon dioxide ("CO2") is the gas that we exhale every time we breathe and when CO2 gas is compressed, it changes to CO2 solid.

Why use Dry Ice?
Dry Ice is very cold with a surface temperature is approximately -110 degrees F, much colder than regular ice, which has a surface temperature of 32 degrees F. Because Dry Ice is so cold, it is an excellent refrigerant that can keep perishable food products cool and fresh while in transit.

Why wasn't there any Dry Ice remaining when my package arrived?
Dry Ice has special properties that are much different than regular ice. This is due to the chemical differences between water ("H2O") and CO2. Water changes from a solid (ice) then melts to a liquid, then evaporates to a gas.

Dry Ice skips the liquid phase and changes from a solid directly to a gas. The dry ice that I use to package your order for shipment usually lasts between from 24 to 36 hours. Since I ship your order via UPS 2nd day air, it is common for there to be little or no dry ice remaining upon receipt. Your delicious hickory-smoked meats, however, will still be cold  ready to be put right in your freezer!
